Travis W. Keyes doesn’t just take pictures. He’s built a career on the belief that the photography industry needs fewer gatekeepers and more guides—and he’s put himself squarely in that role.
Based in New York City, Travis leads a photography practice that moves seamlessly between global brands like Sony and Adobe, high-profile event work, and deeply personal moments—from intimate portraits to weddings rooted in real connection. His influence extends far beyond his client list. He served as New York Chair and later National President of American Photographic Artists, supporting and advocating for photographers nationwide through January 2026. He has spoken at Adobe MAX, served on Adobe’s Lightroom Advisory Board, and continues his involvement as an Adobe VIP Community Member and Community Expert. His industry roles also include Sony Alpha Camera Advocate, Harlowe Ambassador of Light, AMD Ambassador, and member of the National Association of Broadcasters Creator Council.
It’s an unusual portfolio for someone who describes his own work as chasing “the in-between moments”—the glance before the smile, the breath between beats. But for Travis, the two pursuits are inseparable.
From Film Sets to Family Portraits
Travis came to cinematic portrait photography through an indirect route. After earning a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he spent time in film and television production, then owned and ran hospitality ventures across New York, Connecticut, and Miami. A return to study at the International Center of Photography reignited something essential. “The camera saved my soul,” he’s said—a declaration that still shapes his philosophy.

He founded Travis W Keyes Photography in 2014, growing it into an internationally recognized brand. His commercial work includes campaigns for Sony, NBC, Bravo, and AMC Networks. His event coverage spans everything from large-scale PR productions to intimate private moments, while his portrait clients range from celebrities and Fortune 500 executives to families seeking imagery that feels lived-in rather than posed.. In a full-circle return to filmmaking, Travis served for the first time in the role of Producer on the feature film BULLS, which was released and distributed through Vertical Entertainment—bringing his cinematic roots back into focus in a new way.
Building Infrastructure for Creatives
What distinguishes Travis isn’t just his aesthetic—it’s his willingness to share the infrastructure. His speaking engagement at Adobe MAX, his role as an Adobe Community Expert, and his ongoing advocacy work all point to someone who sees professional photography services as a collective practice, not a zero-sum competition.
His collaborations, ambassadorships, and board positions reflect an equal investment in the tools photographers use and the systems that support them—balancing technical fluency with a clear commitment to access, advocacy, and community. Central to that work is a belief in sharing knowledge rather than guarding it: giving away the recipe with the understanding that every artist will add their own spices, shaping it into something uniquely their own.

What Comes Next
In the years ahead, Travis plans to expand into larger commercial and editorial projects, develop new film projects, and continue deepening his work in immersive event documentation. At the heart of that growth is giving back—through mentorship, education, and shared experience. His vision isn’t about scaling a studio for its own sake; it’s about leaving a meaningful mark through connection, community, and imagery, and proving that empathy and craft don’t just coexist—they elevate one another.
In an industry often divided between commercial polish and artistic authenticity, Travis Keyes has carved out space for both. His images feel cinematic but unforced. His business approach is ambitious but rooted in community. And his clients—whether global brands or couples getting married—seem to appreciate the same thing: a photographer who believes being seen matters as much as being photographed with intention and care.
