Bryant Park transforms into a vibrant marketplace today as Urbanspace launches its most ambitious outdoor market to date, featuring an unprecedented 175+ local vendors showcasing handcrafted goods and artisanal products through June 1.
The expanded Makers Market by Urbanspace occupies a significantly larger footprint than previous years, extending along the park’s perimeter walkways and into the central lawn area with carefully designed pathways that protect the park’s greenery while accommodating the increased number of vendors and expected visitors.
“This represents our most extensive market ever, both in size and duration,” says Eldon Scott, President of Urbanspace. “We’ve carefully curated a diverse collection of creators and entrepreneurs that truly represents the creative spirit of New York City.”
The market features an impressive array of product categories, including handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, textiles, artisanal food products, custom apparel, home décor, and original artwork. Notably, over 70% of participating businesses are women-owned and more than 60% are operated by people of color, reflecting Urbanspace’s commitment to supporting diverse entrepreneurship.
Among the most anticipated vendors is Chromatic Clay, the ceramic studio founded by former fashion designer Isabella Feng, whose geometric pottery has developed a cult following on social media. “After two years of selling exclusively online, I’m thrilled to connect directly with customers and explain the inspiration behind each piece,” says Feng.
Food entrepreneurs are well-represented, including Bushwick-based Salsa Compañía, offering small-batch salsas and hot sauces inspired by founder Miguel Hernandez’s family recipes. “Markets like this give small producers like me visibility we couldn’t otherwise afford in Manhattan,” Hernandez explains.
For jewelry enthusiasts, Lithic Modern brings contemporary designs incorporating ethically sourced minerals and stones, while Woven Histories offers textiles and accessories created by immigrant artisans from across the city using traditional techniques from their homelands.
New this year is a designated section for sustainable and upcycled products, featuring vendors like ReNew York, which transforms discarded textiles into one-of-a-kind garments, and GreenCircle, offering plantable stationery embedded with wildflower seeds.
The market will operate Thursdays through Sundays, with extended evening hours on Fridays featuring ambient lighting and occasional acoustic performances. A rotating selection of food vendors will offer refreshments throughout the market’s run, complementing the permanent food kiosks in the park.
“Bryant Park has always been about creating vibrant public spaces for New Yorkers,” says Dan Biederman, Executive Director of the Bryant Park Corporation. “The Makers Market amplifies this mission by supporting local creative entrepreneurs while giving visitors a uniquely New York shopping experience.”
For those seeking specific vendors, Urbanspace has developed an interactive map on their website and mobile app, allowing visitors to search by product category and plan their visits efficiently. The market will also feature weekly rotating spots for emerging creators who otherwise couldn’t commit to the full seven-week schedule.
“In an era of online shopping and chain stores, markets like this provide crucial opportunities for independent makers,” says Scott. “They’re not just shopping destinations—they’re incubators for creative businesses and gathering places that strengthen our community.”
The Makers Market by Urbanspace at Bryant Park runs through June 1, operating Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Fridays. Admission is free. For more information, visit Urbanspace’s official website.
