Erick Lovell Robinson, the Southern California-raised artist known as MaddPropz, has spent over a decade building connections across hip-hop’s sprawling underground network. His upcoming album “Non Stop Motion,” set for release November 8, 2025, represents the culmination of a career that has zigzagged between coasts and genres since 2011.
The mixed-race MC, DJ, and producer—who also performs under the names TheeReal and Real Gaddaffi—started making music at 16, eventually working with Project Blowed veterans Tall Can and Meen Green. His production style pulls from hip-hop, boom bap, jazz, experimental, and ambient influences, creating what some describe as a blend of East and West Coast sensibilities.
A Network Built Through Collaboration
Robinson’s career path reads like a map of independent hip-hop’s interconnected nodes. He’s recorded with Camade, cousin of Das Efx’s Skoob, and worked on a freestyle track with Cadillacque, nephew of Detroit rapper Royce da 5’9″, back in 2014. His experimental hip-hop production caught the attention of Goldie Records, a startup label founded by industry figure Lee Heiman.

In 2017, Robinson appeared under his TheeReal moniker on “We Are Only Getting Older,” an album by Es—brother of Canadian producer Elaquent and formerly of Gill Breathing—alongside vocalist CYGN. The collaboration demonstrated his ability to move between traditional hip-hop structures and more atmospheric soundscapes, a duality he developed while contributing ambient tracks to the global collective Melodysoul.
From Bankruptcy to the Studio
The title “Non Stop Motion” stems from Robinson’s personal philosophy about life’s relentless pace. “Shit Keep Goin on in life I escape a Car Accident one Moment, Bankruptcy Next or just Escaping another life storm / event the next time you think ‘Wait Time Stops for nobody’ That’s ‘Non Stop Motion,'” he explains.

Recent studio sessions with DjBOriginal—a DJ, producer, and former TV executive who worked on KRS-One’s “Temple of Hiphop Global” project—have shaped the album’s direction. Robinson nearly secured a feature from Big Twins of Mobb Deep, though the collaboration didn’t materialize. Now based in New York after years in California’s Inland Empire and Los Angeles, he’s positioning himself for what he sees as the next phase of his career.
Robinson describes himself as “a multifaceted creator—an artist, producer, author, and engineer,” and his independent music label serves as both platform and creative home base. His target audience spans hip-hop purists, jazz heads, and ambient music enthusiasts who appreciate music rooted in older traditions but updated for contemporary ears.
With “Non Stop Motion” approaching release across streaming platforms, Robinson’s genre-defying production work will test whether his decade-plus of underground networking can translate into a wider audience for his particular brand of experimental hip-hop.
