When Jules Aron’s father introduced her to herbal medicine as a child, neither could have predicted it would spark a career bridging bartending and holistic wellness. But after more than 15 years working behind New York City bars, Aron saw an opportunity that most mixologists missed: the medicinal properties of the very botanicals and herbs they were already using.
Women’s Health magazine dubbed her “the wellness mixologist,” a title that captures Aron’s unique position as both beverage consultant and integrative nutritionist. Her approach draws from training as a yoga and Qigong instructor, reiki practitioner, and longtime student of traditional Chinese medicine—credentials rarely found on a bartender’s resume.
The Books That Changed the Conversation
In 2016, Aron published “Zen and Tonic: Savory and Fresh Cocktails for the Enlightened Drinker,” which introduced natural sweeteners and nutrient-dense botanical syrups to the cocktail world. The book emphasized superfoods, medicinal herbs, and the restorative properties of plant-based ingredients—concepts that have since become increasingly mainstream in the holistic beverage consulting space.
She’s since authored five books total, with her 2021 release “Low Proof Happy Hour” addressing the growing moderation movement. The timing proved prescient as mindful drinking continues gaining traction among consumers reconsidering their relationship with alcohol.
Supporting an Industry in Crisis
When the pandemic shuttered restaurants and bars, Aron launched “SIP with PBI” for Palm Beach Illustrated magazine, spotlighting struggling establishments in her community. The series continues today, expanding to Naples with “SIP with NI,” providing ongoing visibility for local hospitality businesses.
That commitment extends to her work as beverage director for Miami’s Seed Food and Wine Festival and her role as secretary for the United States Bartenders Guild locally. She previously co-led the organization’s Health and Wellness committee nationally, bringing her integrated approach to mindful drinking education to industry professionals.
Where Wellness Meets Community Impact
Aron’s monthly column for Palm Beach Media Group reaches audiences across Palm Beach Illustrated, Naples Illustrated, and Aventura magazines, where she serves as Libations Editor. But her influence extends beyond publishing. She works with the nonprofit Fresh Rx in Palm Beach, raising funds for their “food as medicine” program—a philosophy that aligns naturally with her plant-forward approach to cocktails.
Her collaboration with the Palm Beach Library Foundation furthers her community investment, demonstrating that the wellness and spirits consulting model she’s built extends far beyond the bar.
As the wellness trend continues gaining momentum in the food and beverage industry, Aron’s decade-plus positioning at the intersection of hospitality and holistic health places her at the center of conversations about moderation, mindfulness, and what it means to drink thoughtfully. Her work suggests that balance—in and out of the cocktail glass—isn’t just possible, but profitable for brands willing to meet consumers where their values are shifting.
